1658 viewsWarmoth body with quilted maple top. Gibson minibucker in neck and SD Broadcaster in bridge. 5-way switch provides standard 3 way options plus each pickup with a bit of the other using a 70K resistor. Articulate but not twangy - excellent for jazz!

1311 viewsNote that the headstock has been cut off and the tuners have been installed in the body. The body has been routed out in the back to decrease weight and round out the tone. The tuners are Planet Waves Locking Tuners. The pickups were custom made for me by Bill Lawrence. There's an L-280 TN in the neck wound to give a jazz guitar-like sound and an L-250 HP/TL at the bridge wound for a steel guitar sound. I also installed a Bill Lawrence Q-Filter, which gives an acoustic sound when the tone knob is turned down. It WORKS!

1311 viewsBecause of the routing, this guitar is very light (I routed out 2 lbs. of wood). Because I cut off the headstock, it's very well balanced. How does it sound? The Q-Filter really works surprisingly well. The guitar sounds a lot like an acoustic when I want it to. The neck pickup is less jazzy than I'd like, but that's partly because it's a tele. The bridge pickup cuts like a knife. This guitar has SERIOUS Tele Twang, however it's set.

Blond Tele with Multi-Ply Binding and P901182 viewsI have tried to create a Tele Thinline with a Gibson-y look. The Warmoth body has a quilted maple top and plain maple back. The USACG neck is mahogany with a rosewood fingerboard. The neck pickup is a SD Vintage P90 and the bridge is a SD Jerry Donahue.
This photo is taken where I attend my jazz workshop.
